MOVING FORWARD
Little by little TES project its been spread around. Today we’ve cebrated a meeting with Manu Narváez, the director of San Sebastian Turismo, the tourist office of the city. We talked about the potential of the project when attracting tourism to the city.
We’ve also been researching about other case studies of ephimeral structures of the territory. Yesterday we met Koldo Telleria, the architect of KAI-72 a proyect promoted by the Council of Gipuzkoa in 2006 with the aim of creating a new service to the citizens that use bikes as mean of transportation.
The objective of the project was to create some service-stops around the territory of Gipuzkoa that would facilitate the bike transportation. You could stop, park the bike, repair it, rent or buy it, even get information about bike routes or bike paths around. They built a prototipe of this under cover public space conceived as a colonizer of the car space and also as a transportable object.
The project is stopped since 2007 and the structure is kept.

One of our final projects has been selected to be implemented within the next following 6 months! : )
For the implementation, the Future City Jobs will provide 6000€ to the city of Donostia-San Sebastian.
TECHNO-EMOTIONAL SPACES
WHAT IS IT?
Urumea river’s regeneration project. The aim of the idea is to unfocus the importance and all the activity from the bay of La Concha (the most known beach in Donostia-San Sebastian) and transfer it to the river, which reaches more neighbourhoods of the city. They realised about the lack of communication between people and neighbourhoods in Donostia-San Sebastian and want to create a connection point or place between them.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
They suggest to build up some sustainable containers and throw them into the river. Those would float and would move up and down the river, reaching different areas from the city, depending the season, day… These containers would be managed from the a cultural center that would be located in the Santa Clara´s island in the middle of the bay of the city. Instead of looking at the sea from the city, turn the perspective and focus the importance on the city from the island. These techno-emotional spaces would have the following characteristics:
· Space where there would be ephemeral activities that would
stimulate the cultural activity of the city and territory. Where can
projects papers, prototypes, concerns, surprise events and
participation. One of the containers could be a floating hostel, one a
chill out or restaurant laboratory in collaboration with the Basque
Culinary Centre an opportunity for young chefs to showcase their work.
· Opportunity places, mobile places for entrepreneurs and people
with creativity.
· Changing roles
This spaces would be an opportunity to create a strong network between young and students with professionals, entrepreneurs, old people, from different filelds, people from the city centre with people from other neighbourhoods…
A social activation place with culture and the creative industries as point connection. A reference place. Changes in the urban space throw the river. Encounter point different from the bay.
HOW WILL GENERATE YOUNG EMPLOYMENT?
The direct employment and activity would be at the cultural centre in the island, where culture managers would deal with the cultural programme of the containers creating ephemeral content for them. The indirect employment would be generated inside the containers as well as on their surroundings. These mobile spaces could be rented or borrowed by young people that want to develop their interests and use them as showrooms, workshop places, bar, restaurants… different opportunities could arise for young people and places around them would be awaken too.
They could be financed by renting or selling and also using the outside of the containers as advertising walls for sponsors. Techno Emotional Spaces would also create an indirect economy in neighbourhoods along the river.
THE VALUE OF THIS IDEA IS
We think that this project would help to spread the talent of the city to the surroundings of the region. It would decentralise the creative power outside the city generating dynamiting culture.
